Pinto’s Specialty Pharmacy’s pharmacists practice area work which is dedicated to products that are considered specialty medications. Our pharmacists work in a variety of areas including dispensing, medication therapy management, patient advocacy, and therapy compliance. They are also involved with the patient’s therapy from in-patient to ambulatory care sites. We work in more traditional retail settings and either focus on certain specialty disease states at practice sites or work with an affiliated specialty pharmacy provider to dispense these complex medications.
Pinto’s Specialty Pharmacy’s pharmacists provide patient care that optimizes the use of medication and promotes health, wellness, and disease prevention. Our pharmacists care for patients in all health care settings and often collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals.
Our pharmacists have extensive education in the bio-medical, pharmaceutical, socio-behavioral, and clinical sciences. They have a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree and have completed one or more years of post-graduate training (e.g. a general and/or specialty pharmacy residency). Likewise, pharmacists choose to become Board Certified through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties as well as a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP), Board Certified Nuclear Pharmacist (BCNP), Board Certified Nutrition Support Pharmacist (BCNSP), a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS). Also, our pharmacists are sub-specialists within the Pharmacotherapy specialty of Cardiology and Infectious Disease.
